Get Acquainted with CM/ECF Introduction CM/ECF is an acronym for Case Management/Electronic Case Files. It is a system being used in many bankruptcy and district courts across the country. CM/ECF not only replaces the courts' electronic docketing and case management systems, but also it provides users the option to file case documents in electronic format, and for courts to accept filings via the Internet. The CM/ECF system is restricted to certified users only, and access to the system is by log in and password. Therefore, it first is helpful to know how to log on to CM/ECF. Then once in the CM/ECF system, you should become familiar with the other CM/ECF Main Menu options. These menu options appear at the top of the CM/ECF screen; the CM/ECF Main Menu bar looks like this:
