1. Create a PDF Document A document to be filed using CM/ECF (other than court forms) can first be created using word-processing software such as Word or WordPerfect. Then using the word-processing software's Print function, you can “print” (i.e., create) the PDF document. This print-to-PDF function converts the document from the word-processing format to the Portable Document Format format. In doing so, it retains the formatting of the original and automatically adds the corresponding .pdf file name extension. This .pdf extension identifies the document as a PDF document. To locate the Print function in WordPerfect or Word, Do not use the Adobe PDF generator in Word or WordPerfect, as this may cause the CM/ECF system to reject the document attachment.
