Filing Cases Online using CM/ECF

Registered ECF Users: Log in

As a registered user of the court's Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system, you can initiate new cases or file pleadings in existing cases from your office. Participation requires certain computer hardware and software and completion of the CM/ECF training program, which is provided by the Clerk's Office to attorneys' offices at no cost. Complete instructions for using ECF are available in the CM/ECF Attorney / Trustee Online Manual. The manual also includes the latest updates to the case-opening procedures.

Once you are certified to use ECF, extra copies, courier expenses, and delays in document processing diminish. Additional ECF benefits include:

  • 24-hour availability 7 days a week
  • Improved noticing to creditors
  • Remote viewing of documents via the Internet
  • Improved availability of file information, with fewer missing files or pleadings
  • Concurrent and immediate access to the same case file by different users
  • Document printing
  • Ability to generate public reports
  • Potential to view archived files without waiting for retrieval from the federal government's records storage

Are you convinced that ECF is for you? For more information about CM/ECF, view our ECF page. You can register to use CM/ECF by completing the online registration form. You will be contacted by the Clerk's Office staff to help get you started in the world of electronic case filing.
