Welcome

       On behalf of our judges and the Clerk's Office staff, welcome to the “cyber” extension of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California. You will see that this is no ordinary Web site. It is a highly interactive place that allows you to conduct business with the Clerk's Office, as well as to gain access to important information.

From this site, you can:

• Open new bankruptcy cases and file pleadings
• Request a hearing date
• Review dockets and see the actual pleadings
• Have a case file held for your arrival and review at the courthouse
• Order copies of closed files from the Federal Records Center

The launch of electronic filing and its availability to law offices to reduce costs and improve access to the Clerk's Office is our biggest news. We went live with electronic case files in March 1998, and we hope that you will join us in this venture. Our CM/ECF page provides the details.

Remember, lots of information (e.g., Local Rules, court forms, etc.) can be found on the site for viewing and downloading. To help you with your navigation, just ask yourself, “Where would I go in the courthouse to do this?” Then click on that button or link and discover the information you seek. If not, go to the Site Map and use the Find command (<CTRL> button + letter F key). Information is a mouse click away.
