Through February 4, 2026, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California will continue normal operations notwithstanding the partial government shutdown beginning at midnight on January 30, 2026.

If the shutdown continues after Judiciary funds are exhausted on February 4, 2026, the courts will operate under the terms of the Anti-Deficiency Act.  Essential work will continue during a lapse in appropriations as necessary for courts to fulfill constitutional and statutory duties to hear and resolve cases and proceedings. Further guidance will be issued if the partial shutdown of the federal government continues beyond February 4, 2026.
